Currently, there are no active-service chiropractors in any branch of the military. This is not because chiropractors are unwilling to serve in this capacity but because the military does not allow chiropractors to serve. 

Active-duty service men and women do not have chiropractic coverage unless referred by a VA hospital. Most are forced to follow the allopathic model. 

We must organize a more concerted push to incorporate chiropractic into our military. Operation Backbone will unite the profession and provide chiropractors with the knowledge and resources to perform better for those who have served or are in active service. 

Operation Backbone focuses on three things: how we can better reach those who have served or are serving in our military, how we can better serve those who have served or are actively serving in our military, and how we can better support you in reaching and serving our nation’s heroes through chiropractic. 

Here, you can access information and resources to help you reach and serve our military service men and women in your community. We cover everything from connecting with military groups to answering questions about correctly billing the VA for services. 

Together, we will change the Department of Defense’s (DoD) understanding of chiropractic so that chiropractors can serve their country through chiropractic.
